On February 13, YesHealth Group announced a strategic collaboration with Taichung-based Seasons Future Farm to develop a large-scale indoor vertical farm in Xinshe District, Taichung City.
This marks the expansion of YesHealth’s footprint in Taiwan to meet growing demand of high-quality, locally grown produce.
The expansion comes as YesHealth iFarm, its facility in northern Taiwan, reaches full capacity, said Stella Tsai, group facilitator at YesHealth Group.
“Today, YesHealth iFarm has reached full capacity, reflecting not only strong consumer acceptance but also sustained growth in demand for safe, locally grown, high-quality produce. Demand consistently exceeds supply. In particular, demand in Central Taiwan has grown significantly, creating both a capacity opportunity and a regional supply gap that we are well-positioned to address,” she told AgTechNavigator.
Tsai explained that the new farm in central Taiwan will work closely with YesHealth iFarm, forming a two-hub production network that enhances nationwide coverage and strengthens supply stability.
“We’ve taken a disciplined and strategic approach to expanding our footprint in Taiwan, steadily increasing production volume, strengthening operational efficiency, and diversifying across multiple retail and foodservice channels.”
The YesHealth iFarm was the company’s most recent facility. It was constructed in 2017 and began production in 2018.
“At that time in Taiwan, hydroponic vegetables had not yet established a strong brand presence, and consumer perception was generally not positive. YesHealth Group has invested significantly in brand building through a self-operated agritourism farm, along with food and agriculture education programs, to transform consumer perception from scepticism to trust and recognition,” said Tsai.
YesHealth and Seasons Future Farm said they plan to deepen their collaboration, with the aim of developing one to two additional vertical farms of a similar scale in the coming years.
This aligns with YesHealth’s long-term vision to expand its footprint and serve consumers across Taiwan.
“Our expansion strategy is not limited to Central Taiwan. If the Central Taiwan facility reaches near full-year production capacity, our partner has already expressed interest in expanding further with YesHealth Group. We remain open to establishing facilities in Southern Taiwan or other regions, provided there are suitable locations and strong distribution channels,” said Tsai.
Tsai emphasised that any future expansion would be driven by market demand, operational performance and strategic partnerships.
“Our goal is not simply to add more facilities, but to thoughtfully build an interconnected system that supports Taiwan’s long-term food security, agricultural modernization, and regional economic development.
“At this stage, our immediate focus is on the successful development and launch of one new vertical farm in Central Taiwan. Central Taiwan’s consumer spending power is comparable to that of Northern Taiwan, while land and labour costs in suburban areas remain relatively lower. These factors make Central Taiwan a highly attractive location for expansion.”

Details of new facility
The new facility will be developed on a 6,000-square-metre greenfield site, with a total cultivation area of approximately 15,000 square metres.
Under the partnership, Seasons Future Farm will oversee construction of the building and supporting infrastructure in accordance with YesHealth’s specifications.
YesHealth will be responsible for the design, installation, and operation of the internal farming systems.
The facility will primarily serve central Taiwan – including Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, and Yunlin to improve access to fresh, locally grown produce with shorter supply chains.
Production will be integrated with YesHealth Group’s Taoyuan facility under the YesHealth iFarm brand to expand market reach and strengthen nationwide distribution.
At full capacity, the site could produce up to 2,000 kilograms per day if dedicated solely to butterhead Boston lettuce, said Tsai.
To meet broader market demand, the farm will grow a range of leafy greens, including arugula, kale, and red leaf lettuce, resulting in an estimated average daily output of 1,100 to 1,300 kilograms.
The facility will house 13 growing racks, each 11 metres high, supporting high-density, year-round cultivation of premium leafy greens.
The project will also expand supply to business-to-business customers, including major retailers such as Costco, as well as hospitality and food service operators.
Seasons Future Farm also plans to launch its own consumer brand alongside the joint production platform.
Construction is scheduled to begin on 13 February, with installation of farming equipment set for August. Commercial production is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026.
