AgriCarbon, Anthesis Group’s flagship carbon farming programme, is driving regenerative agriculture and high-integrity carbon credit generation in South Africa. A new partnership with MyEasyFarm brings advanced digital tools to strengthen data quality, accelerate farmer participation, and unlock measurable climate impact

Agriculture faces pressure to cut emissions, restore soil health, and build climate resilience. AgriCarbon is aiming to tackle these challenges by supporting farmers to adopt regenerative land management practices and generate verified carbon credits.

Since its launch in 2021, AgriCarbon has issued 39,207 tonnes of carbon credits, aided by sustainable practices implemented by 29 farmers across 17,582 hectares. Backed by 70,000 unique data points collected during its first three-year monitoring period, the programme is a regional leader in climate-smart farming.

Why digital transformation matters

AgriCarbon is the first African project – and only the second globally – certified under Verra’s VM0042 Agricultural Land Management methodology. Meeting these rigorous standards requires robust data management, monitoring, reporting, and verification.

This is where MyEasyFarm steps in. Its MyEasyCarbon platform will streamline how farmers record practice changes, ensure compliance with VM0042, and improve overall data integrity.

Scaling impact through collaboration

By combining MyEasyFarm’s digital capabilities with Anthesis’ sustainability expertise, the partnership aims to enhance data quality for carbon credit validation; simplify programme participation for farmers; and build confidence in the integrity of credits generated.

With 200,000 hectares already enrolled, AgriCarbon believes it is poised for significant growth

“We are thrilled to partner with Anthesis on this transformative journey towards a more sustainable agricultural future,” said François Thierart, CEO of MyEasyFarm. “The scale and ambition of this VM0042 project align perfectly with our mission to help the agri-food sector reduce its carbon footprint and adopt regenerative practices.”

“AgriCarbon is our flagship carbon farming programme, and achieving its full potential requires both advanced digital tools and deep sustainability expertise,” added Franz Rentel, managing director, Anthesis South Africa. “This collaboration unlocks significant environmental and economic value for South Africa’s agricultural sector.”
