PATS, the Delft-based agri-tech startup known for its AI-powered pest monitoring and control systems, has raised €2.7 million in seed funding to fast-track the rollout of its smart pest management solutions. The round was backed by Division Q, Percival Participations, Delft Enterprises, and a group of tech and horticulture investors.
The company’s mission is bold: replace insecticides with technology. Its tools already support hundreds of growers across more than 25 countries, helping reduce pest pressure, cut chemical use, and meet tightening sustainability standards.
“This funding is a major step toward realizing our vision of biology and technology working hand in hand,” said Bram Tijmons, CEO and co-founder of PATS.
PATS will use the new capital to accelerate development of its pest detection and intervention systems; simplify and streamline pest control for growers; and expand internationally, targeting key horticultural markets
The company’s in-house production facility in Delft is already capable of delivering over 1,000 sensor systems per month, giving it the manufacturing muscle to meet growing demand.
AI, drones, and real-time pest intelligence
PATS’ product suite includes:
- PATS-C: Tracks flying pests in real time
- Trap-Eye™: Developed with Biobest, this system monitors sticky traps automatically
- PATS-Vinder and PATS-Kalendar: Predict pest outbreaks and support intervention planning
Together, these tools form a comprehensive, automated pest management platform that reduces reliance on manual scouting and chemical sprays. For persistent pests, PATS is also developing bat-inspired drones that can intervene directly – a futuristic but practical solution for integrated pest control.
Getting drones into growers’ hands
With the seed funding secured, PATS is now focused on getting its solutions into the hands of more growers, particularly those facing: labour shortages; stricter pesticide regulations; and increasing pest pressure due to climate change
By offering real-time, automated monitoring and control, PATS aims to make sustainable pest management not just possible, but practical – even for growers with limited resources or technical expertise.
From university spin-out to global agri-tech player
Founded as a spin-out from Delft University of Technology, PATS was created by a team of drone, vision, and AI specialists. Its founders believe that precision pest control is the next frontier in sustainable agriculture – and that technology can complement, not replace, biological strategies.
With a growing team and a clear roadmap, PATS is positioning itself as a key player in the €2 billion smart pest management market projected by 2030.
